Become a BARK Ranger!
2024 Update:
Please note that our B.A.R.K. Ranger program is currently on hold
The dog runs in Maria Hernandez Park do not receive annual funding from the city for repairs and maintenance, despite being on public property.

In 2020, the Maria Hernandez Park Dog Run Pack launched the first-ever NYC Bark Ranger program to foster responsible park use by dog owners and help raise funds for the dog runs.

By becoming an NYC Bark Ranger, you will help fund the vital repairs needed to keep the dog runs clean & safe!
NYC Bark Ranger Mission
Inspired by the National Parks Service, the NYC Bark Ranger program aims to foster responsible dog ownership in New York City by representing these basic principles:

-
Bag and dispose of your dog's waste
-
Always comply with leash rules
-
Respect wildlife and park goers
-
Know where you can go

100% of the proceeds from the NYC Bark Rangers program will go towards renovating and maintaining the dog runs in Maria Hernandez Park-- this includes purchasing work tools, trash cans, trash bags, replacing the torn green screening around the fences, installing a shade solution, and repairing (or replacing) the gravel surfacing.
